Butler
About Butler
A Centre for Commercial Activity and Public Services
Butler is a suburb about 41 km north of Perth’s CBD, located in the City of Wanneroo. It lies just ~2 km inland from the Indian Ocean, giving it coastal access while also offering all the comforts of suburban living.
The Butler railway station connects to Perth via the Yanchep line. It makes travel in and out easy for day-trips or staying in Butler and exploring the wider region.
Abundance of Facilities
Have a very large shopping and retail district, establishing it as a commercial town
Beach Time
The coastline near Butler (including nearby Quinns Rocks and Jindalee) offers peaceful beaches, good for swimming, walking along the shore, or enjoying sunsets.
Parks and Green Space
Brampton Park is popular: playgrounds, open space, walking paths. Kingsbridge Boulevard includes park strips. Great for a low-key afternoon outdoors.
Where to Eat & Drink
Butler offers a nice variety of casual cafés and restaurants. Here are tips for food:
Start the day with a café by the coast — fresh coffee + ocean breeze.
For lunch/dinner, there are restaurants using locally-sourced ingredients. Seafood features due to coastal proximity.
Evenings can be relaxed. Maybe a drink at a local tavern or pub, or strolls around the beach.
Getting Around & Practical Info
Transportation: Butler Railway Station (Yanchep line) connects you to Perth. There are multiple bus routes linking to neighboring suburbs.
Accommodation: Mostly holiday rentals / short-term stays. If you prefer hotels, you can find more in neighboring areas.
Family Friendly: With parks, safe neighborhoods, good schools, and community vibe, it’s a very comfortable place for families.
Best Time to Visit
Because it’s coastal, the best time is during late spring to early autumn when the weather is warm and ideal for beaches. Summers can get hot but are still very nice. Check local weather. If you’re after calmer crowds, avoid peak holiday times. Local markets, live smaller events, art & culture workshops pop up during weekends. Great for getting to know the local feel.
If you want to go beyond Butler: coastal reserves, nature where you can spot native flora and fauna, and easy day-trips to greener or less urbanized areas. Butler Central and nearby shops offer a mix of essentials and casual dining. There are cafés overlooking the ocean, and the food scene is friendly, with fresh, local options.
